Warner Bros. has hired 13-year-old Thomas Horn to play the young male lead in the big screen adaptation of Jonathan Safran Foer's post 9/11 novel "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close," opposite Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. will co-produce with Paramount.
Scott Rudin, who has been developing the film since 2005 when the book was published, is producing.
Eric Roth wrote the adaptation and Stephen Daldry ("The Hours," "The Reader") is attached to direct.
Warners and Paramount co-produced "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," which Roth also wrote.
"Extremely Loud" focuses on a 9-year-old boy (Horn) who finds a key in a vase that belonged to his father, who died in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, and searches to find the lock that goes with it.
Horn won $31,800 in October as a contestant on "Jeopardy!"
